V.P Bawumia’s convoy not involved in road crash

Bawumia at Joseph Adda's funeral ceremony

The Office of the Vice President has debunked widespread reports that Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia's convoy was involved in an accident.

It said only one vehicle belonging to the Vice President's security team crashed on Tamale Highway about three days ago.

In a post, Dr. Gideon Boako, the Vice President's spokesperson, said his boss was fine as he was currently attending the funeral of former Aviation Minister Joseph Kofi Adda.

According to earlier reports, Dr. Bawumia's convoy crashed in Tamale in the Northern Region on Friday night after the vehicle carrying his security guards went off the road and crashed into a forest patch.

The driver reportedly died on the spot while the others sustained some injuries and are currently in hospital.

However, the Vice President's Office said these claims should be ignored.

"The convoy of Vice President Dr. Bawumia was not involved in an accident. Unfortunately, a vehicle belonging to the security team that usually precedes the Vice President was involved in an accident three days ago on the way to Tamale. Vice President Bawumia is currently leading a government delegation to mourn with the family and friends of the late Hon. Joseph Kofi Adda, former MP for Navrongo Central and Minister of Aviation," said Dr. Gideon Boako.
