Businessman and former head of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly [KMA], Kojo Bonsu, has announced his intention to run for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 elections.
He stated that the NDC must work to field a new flag bearer for the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
In an interview with Daily Graphic, he said, "In this country, it's the swing voters that will allow you to win an election for both the NPP and the NDC."
The businessman explained that the electoral defeat of the NDC in the 2016 and 2020 general elections was not only a defeat but also a rejection of John Mahama, which is why the party needs a new leader for the 2024 elections.
He stated, "The reason I am coming here is that the NPP lied a lot about John Mahama, claiming he was incompetent and dragging him into the mud with other falsehoods that the NDC could not clean up or tell the people were not true.
"We [NDC] allowed the untruth against Mahama to persist in 2016 and we allowed it to persist again in 2020, so we have to put up a new face to convince the swing voters who went for John Mahama."
He added, "I do not want us to lose the 2024 election and remain in opposition again."
