Currently the hottest Ghanaian artist, Mohammed Ismail Sharif, known in showbiz as Black Sherif, has been sued by Shadrach Agyei Owusu, the Chief Executive Officer of Waynes Chavis Consult, for alleged breach of contract.
The suit stems from allegations that Black Sherif neglected his investor after the latter invested money in his career.
Black Sherif allegedly entered into a distribution agreement with Empire Music without the consent of his investor, who allegedly has a management contract with him. The contract allegedly obligates Black Sherif to conduct all of his activities through the investor who was assisting the artist.
In the statement of claim dated April 11, 2022, obtained by citinewsroom.com, the plaintiff, Shadrach Agyei Owusu, is asking the court to prohibit Black Sherif from performing at events without his consent.
He is also asking the courtfor "an injunction to restrain the defendant, his agents, assigns, employees and associates from performing at events or entering into agreements to perform at events or otherwise exploiting his music and image without approaching the plaintiff."
Agyei Owusu is also demanding the surrender of all monies derived from Black Sherif's online streams.
Shadrach also wants a bankruptcy trustee to withhold the proceeds of all monies derived from the defendant's activities.
This comes at a time when Black Sherif's latest song 'Kwaku The Traveller' is topping the global charts, making him the most sought after artist in Ghana in recent times.
