Asamoah Gyan to play for Black Stars in the coming World Cup

Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong has advocated for the inclusion of former Black Stars striker Asamoah Gyan in the 2022 World Cup squad.

He said that while the forward lacks his former sharpness, his inclusion in the team could help the Black Stars advance in the World Cup.

In an interview with Accra-based broadcaster Happy FM, the vocal lawmaker said Ghana will need Gyan's experience at the Mundial.

"He is an old man, he is an old man... But he can motivate the team," he said.

"Just his presence will make a difference. So if they send old players along to motivate them, it can change the game."

"So the role of old players like Asamoah Gyan cannot be ignored, they must be sent to boost the morale of the young players. But from what I saw in the games against Nigeria, we can go far," he added.

The Black Stars defeated Nigeria by two legs late last month after they drew in Abuja to qualify for the World Cup ahead of the Super Eagles.

They have been drawn against Portugal, Uruguay and South Korea in Group H of the World Cup to be held in Qatar.
