Police invite Abronye DC for allegedly accusing Mahama of plotting coup

Police have summoned Bono Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC, for questioning.

According to police, Abronye DC had accused former President John Dramani Mahama of allegedly plotting a coup, hence the invitation.

"The Accra Regional Command has asked Kwame Baffoe to report to the regional headquarters by 4pm today [Tuesday, February 15, 2022] to assist in investigations. Failure to do so will result in his arrest," a statement from the Ghana Police Service said.

"The public will be kept informed in due course," the police added in the statement, which was signed by the director general of the Police Public Affairs Directorate, DCOP Kwesi Ofori.

The NPP supporter is reported to have said John Mahama met with Al-Qaeda militants to discuss with them how to topple the ruling party.

Abronye DC claimed, according to some media reports, that Mahama approached the group to help him become president again.

The NPP communicator reportedly made the claim on Hot 93.9FM while reacting to the arrest of Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor, the organiser of #FixTheCountry.
