The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has denied reports that the MP approved Dome Kwabenya's absence from Parliament.
He said he did not give such permission to the Minister of Gender and Children, for health or other reasons.
The parliament speaker said he does not determine who is present or absent in the chamber, adding that parliamentary procedures disclose the presence or absence of MPs.
"She has not received permission from me to be absent from the parliament for health reasons. I want everyone to know that I did not give such an interview anywhere. I have not said anything like that anywhere."
"The goals and procedures of the House are so loud that she is absent without leave on all of these days. That's on the face of the House procedure. It is not the Speaker who determines who is present and who is absent."
"The goals and procedures will cover those who are present, those who are absent, and those who are absent with permission," Mr. Bagbin said Thursday on the House floor.
The Member of Parliament for Assin Central in the Central Region, Kennedy Agyapong, has accused Adwoa Safo of blackmailing the ruling New Patriotic Party.
"Adwoa Safo is blackmailing the entire NPP. That is the truth I am saying here. I will not cover it up because I have two children with her. So if she is doing something wrong, I will not say it. What is going on in the NPP is very annoying. We have spoiled some people so much that they have become tin gods," he said last Thursday on his radio station Oman FM.
