The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has announced that the government may not be able to pay salaries in the next three months.
The Speaker of Parliament attributes this to information he claims to have.
In his speech to the Parliament, the Speaker called on MPs to show leadership in these difficult times.
"This is not to stop the committee from doing its work. If something is not done within the next three months, the government may not be able to pay the salaries."
"So we have to take the lead. We have to do a lot of things," he said.
His concerns come in the face of workers' demands for better working conditions and a rising cost of living, even as the government pushed through the controversial electronic transaction tax it has touted as a major solution to the country's many financial problems.
