We’ll prove Abronye DC’s innocence in Court – Hopeson Adorye

A member of the ruling Patriotic Party (NPP) communications team, Hopeson Adorye, is disappointed with the way the police have handled the case of the Brong Ahafo Regional Chairman of the NPP, Kwame Baffoe, also known as Abronye DC.

Mr. Adorye said the accused is innocent and will prove it in court today Wednesday.

"The allegations levelled against him are unjust. He was minding his business when he was called by a radio station to respond to a comment made by another person."

"How can that pass for misconduct? I am not a law student, but I do not think it is. I think the IGP thought he was speaking from the studio, but he was not. We will prove that to the IGP tomorrow [Wednesday]. He just said that the mindset of Oliver is the mindset that Mahama has in him. Is that not the case? Are not they working together? They have the same vision."

"After he was summoned by the police for questioning at 4:00 p.m., he complied with the summons, even showing up 3 hours ahead of time. What did he do wrong to deserve arrest? Why did the IGP order that he be denied bail? This is unfair."

The Greater Accra Regional Police Command had arrested Abronye DC on Tuesday after he accepted an invitation to help investigate his claims that former President John Dramani Mahama was planning a coup to return to power.

According to police, a preliminary investigation found that his allegations against the former NDC flag bearer were untrue and likely to result in a breach of the peace.

The NPP supporter allegedly claimed that John Mahama had met with al-Qaeda fighters to discuss how he could overthrow the ruling party.

Abronye DC claimed, according to some media reports, that Mr. Mahama approached the group to help him become president again.

The NPP communicator reportedly made the claim on Hot 93.9 FM in Accra while reacting to the arrest of Oliver Mawuse Barker-Vormawor, the organiser of #FixTheCountry.
